  • Mahavitaran Bagged the National Award for its work in Rooftop Solar Generation

Mumbai, 27th February 2023 – Mahavitaran received a National award announced by the Indian Chambers of Commerce for its remarkable performance in the ‘Solar Rooftop Scheme’ to generate electricity by installing solar energy panels on the roof of the house. The award ceremony took place at New Delhi on 24th February.
Founded in 1925 by the renowned industrialist Mr. G.D. Birla, Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) is the leading and only National Chamber of Commerce having headquarter in Kolkata, and one of the most pro-active and forward-looking Chambers in the country today. Its membership spans some of the most prominent and major industrial groups in India. The chamber, on Friday organized a summit to discuss about the Green Energy wherein the awards in various categories were announced in the presence of dignitaries working the green energy sector in the country. Former Central Energy Secretary Shri. Anil Razdan and Former Chairman and Managing Director of IREDA, Shri. K.S.Popli presented the award to the Superintending Engineer of Mahavitaran, Shri. Chandramani Mishra for the outstanding performance of Mahavitaran in the Solar Rooftop Scheme. The Chairman and Managing Director of Mahavitaran, Shri. Vijay Singhal appreciated the officers and employees of Mahavitaran for receiving this award.
In the Solar Rooftop Scheme, the consumer generates electricity through the rooftop solar panels and uses the electricity for himself and he can also sell the excess electricity to Mahavitaran. This scheme is very well received by the consumers. As on 22 February 2023, the count of consumers who have already installed the solar rooftop panels is 79,564 and they have already generated 1387 MW electricity through the solar rooftop panels
Five years back in 2016-17, there were only 1,074 consumers having the capacity of generating only 20 MW. But it has increased significantly in the last five years and has gone up to 1,389 MW. In the current financial year after April 2022 till date 356 MW solar electricity is added

Consumers get a huge grant from the Central government for the solar energy generation under the Solar Rooftop Scheme. By using the solar power, consumer uses less electricity consequently reducing his electricity bill. If the consumer generates excess electricity apart from his personal use, he can give the excess solar power in Mahavitaran’s grid and in turn the consumer gets discount in his electricity bill by Mahavitaran. The expenditure of installing a solar panel is returned in 4-5 years but the benefit of the solar rooftop panels is for 25 years. Therefore, this scheme is very popular amongst the consumers. This scheme helps in saving the electricity bill as well as in safeguarding the environment.
Similarly like the residential consumers, industrial consumers are also generating electricity through the Solar Rooftop Panels. The consumers who wish to install the solar rooftop panels, they can apply by visiting Mahavitaran’s website at www.mahadiscom.in/ismart. Mahavitaran assists the consumer in all the matters right from agency selection and all other things.
